About Us

Rotary Club of Madras Besant Nagar afiliated to Rotary District RI 3234 ( prev 3230,3232). It is currently headed by
District Governor Rtn S Saravanan RI 3234 has about 150 Rotary clubs spread across the city of Chennai.

Rotary Club of Madras Besant Nagar had its first unofficial meeting on the 16th  July 1996 at Hotel Savera. The second meeting was held at the Gandhinagar Club. However the first official meeting of the club was held at the Dakshin Club in the suburbs of Chennai. Rtn.P.T.Prabhakar was the then District Governor. The club was formed by Rotary Club of Madras Uptown, whose President, then, was Rtn.Rajappa. Rtn.P.S.Sridharan of Uptown was the Governor’s Special Representative (otherwise known as GSR). The club was chartered on April 9, 1997 (Rotary Year 1996-97) at a pompous function held in Hotel Park Sheraton.  The Charter President was Rtn.Kitcha Natesan, who continued to lead the club in 1997-98 also. Unfortunately is no longer with our club. The RI President during the charter year of our club was Rtn.Luis Vicente Giay from Argentina and the Rotary Theme for the year was „Build The Future With Action and Vision“. The subsequent leaders at club level given under the head Passt Presidents in this site. Presently the club has 29 members.

The club meets every Wednesday at 1900 hrs at St. Ptrick’s School, Gandhinagar, Adyar, Chennai-600020, Tamilnadu, India.
